February 2012
I just got $1,500 in summer research funding.
Plus housing.
Plus a $3,500 stipend (For food, I’m assuming? But that’s uh like $350 a week for food and I DO NOT EAT THAT MUCH, and if it’s for transporation, uh, I live an hour from campus so… what will I do with that money I don’t understand.)
If I get the National Air and Space Museum internship I’m probably going to reject the grant (which will be so awkward as I think only two people were given the grant and they’re really nice people), but, uh, I will have something to do this summer.
(Plus summer REUs are going on at W&M so there’ll be lectures and stuff I can attend in addition to my thin film work and holy shit I feel so legit right now.)
Wait.
This mean’s I’m one degree of separation away from Lea Salonga.

A guy I know sang a duet with Lea Salonga.
It was ‘A Whole New World’.
I just shouted ‘MOTHERFUCKER’ in the middle of the library.

If you find a good place to sell manga, let me know. I’ve got a shelf of series I haven’t touched in YEARS that I’d love to get out of my hair and maybe a bit of money for.
I know about Garage Sale Japan, which is pretty much a free-for-all of everything Japanese. I just found MangaTrade, TradeAnime (which is great because I have DVDs to ge rid of too), dj-trade (if you have yaoi doujinshi), and artbook_fanbook (for exactly that, artbooks and such, which probably includes companion books)… and there’s the Miscellaneous section of the Coscom Marketplace but I’ve never posted anything on there before.
SO useful. I have some DVDs to get rid of, too, and some of those ridiculous ‘How To Draw Manga’ books. Thanks! I know what I’ll be doing over my spring break. XD
I totally forgot I had those too… although, I think I might have one or two generic ones and a big one about Bishoujo.
I think I’ll try to offload the one DVD I have of El Hazard, and the box sets I have of the second season of Kaleido Star and the first season of Kyo Kara Maoh
even though it’s a Chinese bootleg set and there’s something screwy about the menu screens… and I think I have the first two DVDs of Gravitation somewhere.I need to find a Star Trek sales comm, though, because I have limited edition TNG board games (one of them still has the shrinkwrap, I have doubles of it) and a VHS set of the original movies that really need to go.
(moved this over to le personal blog because this conversation now has absolutely nothing to do with frills!)
I also have a few figures I want to get rid of- they came in blind grab boxes I bought, I barely have any idea what series they’re from. XD Then as far as DVDs go I want to get rid of everything I’ve got apart from a few series (so some Tsubasa, a random Sailor Moon DVD, some NGE and some Fruits Basket). Manga, I’ve got… oh goodness. A lot. I want to get rid of basically everything but my CLAMP series and my Azuma series, as those are the only ones I still read.
What I really want to find one day are all my old Sailor Moon items, actually. I had the Crescent Wand and transformation locket toys!

SFX magazine names Amy/Rory their second-greatest sci-fi romance Of All Time. (Jack/Ianto and John Smith/Joan also made the list.) What makes Amy and Rory work is the undeniable chemistry between Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill, who seem perfectly at ease with each other in every scene. While…
- Abed: Oh, everyone needs to be extra careful this week.
- Jeff: Why's that?
- Abed: It's Sweeps Week. High-rating shows always have some big mind-blowing event in Sweeps Week to get ratings. Someone dies, or there's a natural disaster.
- Jeff: Abed, for the last time, this is not one of those shows!
- Abed: No, you're probably right. Some shows just have some big Oscar-winning actor make an appearance.
- Jeff: This is Greendale. I doubt there's an Oscar-winning actor in the entire state, let alone one about to walk through the study room door.
- Dean Pelton: *walks through the study room door* Hel-looooooo!
